The majority of humans on Earth have their minds focused on things that directly concern them.  They think about bills, what to have for dinner, what TV shows to watch, how much gas is in the car, visiting friends or family, & often times politics that pertain to their lives in some form or another.  But there’s something that everyone should be concerned with, especially given the time frame left for it’s prophetic beginnings (per Ray Kurzweil) coming in 2045.

I’m talking about what’s known as Transhumanism.  In a nutshell, Transhumanism is simply the merging of humans with technology into a sort of techno-organic-symbiosis.  Which, at first sounds rather innocent, if not just plain cool.  The imagination can run wild with ideas of having the internet in your eyeballs, controlled by your thoughts.  A semi-telepathic network via having telephone calls operated by thought & having the receiver directly inside your ears.  Also, great medical breakthroughs can be imagined for the paraplegic.  Technology in that regard has already been developed & is currently in the improvement phase for better practicality.

Before we get into what’s so concerning to me, lets look at some of the technology they’re looking at producing.

Cryonics – they can already start this kind of technological process, they just haven’t figured out how to reverse it yet.  Basically, it’s freezing a human being who’s just died, so they can be revived later when they have the technology to do so.  It preserves the brain & the freezing process doesn’t cause micro-crystalization (which destroys cells).  Once they have the technology, they’ll be able to slowly thaw a subject & recharge their metabolism, bringing them back to life.

Virtual Reality – right now, we have pseudo-virtual reality in the sense that we have video games with excellent graphics & actual human interaction (via multi-player online gaming).  What they do not have yet, however, is the reality part of the virtual reality.  What I mean is, we can’t hook up our senses to the ‘game.’  We can’t fool our bodies into believing they’re a part of the ‘game’s’ virtual world.  But supposedly, that technology is less than a decade away from being not just widespread but affordable to the average Wal-Mart shopper.  Think “The Matrix” & you’re on par.

Gene Therapy – long story short, it ends in living forever.  It starts with figuring out how to repair genes in the sense that some genes (like the ones that end up leaving people with cancer) need to be repaired.  This is the same with things like Lou Gehrig’s disease.  Eventual mastery of this science leads to immunity to everything & alterations in genetic makeup in such a way that our bodies could literally perform the best that is possible, & absorb nutrients as required (what I mean by that is that you could stay thin no matter what you eat because your body would only absorb what it needs… not including bad fats etc).  Of course, this doesn’t solve ‘vulnerability’ issues, as you could still be killed.

Cybernetics – what’s known as cyborgs already exist in our society today, as we already have medical implants that are supposed to replace limbs & some sensory functions (like how a cochlear implant restores hearing quality).  But the future holds even further cybernetic human enhancements.  Implants & augmentations that are for the purpose of improving, instead of restoring human functions.  Eyesight that’s far better than anything the natural eye could ever produce.  Strength that no human muscle could ever attain.  As expensive as it may be, it’s on its way in just a couple decades.

Self-Replicating Machines – as complex as it may sound, it apparently comes down to engineering & no major technological breakthroughs are required.  Designs for these have already been done & if this were done on the right scale, all of humanity would no longer have to deal with manual labor outside supervisory maintenance of the machines & their processes.

Molecular Manufacturing – We’ve already been able to use molecular surgery to snip off & replace individual hydrogen atoms.  Eventually we’ll be able to make full scale objects from scratch just as nature has done for millions of years.  As for right now, there’s plenty of hurdles to get over, but once we get over them… look out bees.  We won’t need you anymore.

Artificial &/or uploaded Intelligence – This is the creme-de-le-creme of transhumanist technology.  This is what surpasses any & all mortality for them.  We’re not far off (about 2045 is what Kurzweil predicted, and so far, I’m pretty sure he’s never been wrong) from being able to upload our consciousness to an avatar that is either both organic & mechanical or possibly 100% mechanical.  On top of this, completely artificial intelligence would also be possible.

The most concerning part of all of this, to me, is who this kind of technology will be available to.  Stop and ask yourself for a second, “will I be able to afford this?”  Chances are, you’re one of the probably 95% of humans who will NOT come anywhere close to being able to afford to do any of this.  You won’t be able to augment yourself.  You won’t be able to upload your mind to a robot either.  You won’t even be able to afford the gene therapy required to fight off cancer, let alone the kind of gene therapy that could make it so maybe you could at least live for several hundred years (should nobody kill you first).  You MIGHT be able to afford cryogenics.  But what good would that do you?  It’s not like you’re making any money & it’s not like your family will end up with the kind of resources needed to revive you &/or then augment or upload you to an indestructible avatar.  So you’ll probably end up unfrozen & burned or something, just to save space for the truly worthy:  the wealthy elite.

So, you know how you might’ve thought, “ugh, at least these Rothschilds & Rockefellers are almost dead.  Maybe when they’re dead, we’ll have a chance at taking the world back.”  Well, not if they’re frozen.  Think:  in just 30 years or so, Rockefellers & Rothschilds will have the chance at no longer being limited by the mortality that is our soft fleshy bodies.

So, what then?  What now?  What do we normal folks do?  Well, that’s just it.  Why would these beings need to worry about what we do?  They aren’t going to die.  So perhaps… they don’t need to worry about us?  There’s the real key to understanding what might actually be going on in the world.  Countries everywhere are getting fed up with their horrible governments.  They’re revolting & trying to take back control.  Attempting to foolishly install democracy because the “free world” (USA) says it’s the best way, while we’ve never even had democracy in the United States anyway!  Currencies are failing.  Economies are crumbling.  Politicians are getting ridiculously SLOPPY with their conspiracies.  Revealing how horrible they really are to just about everyone.  Why?  Aren’t they scared of us?  Aren’t they worried that we’ll revolt & kill them?  Or at least imprison them?

Well, let me ask you:  if all you had to do was keep up the lie that is government (something that has existed for millennia) for JUST 30 more years or so, & THEN you could transfer yourself into a hard mechanical body that required little to no sustenance whatsoever & that which would outlast every living thing currently in existence… what would you choose to do?  Try to wait it out?  Tell the public you’re working hard to fix the problems of the community/state/nation/world?  Or, would you say to yourself “no, that’s wrong.  Everyone deserves this technology, so I’ll work to make everyone free & they’ll help us attain the technology FASTER.”

What YOU might choose is probably different than what someone would choose who’s already used to making decisions that potentially end thousands of human lives on a daily basis.  Once they have this technology, even if they COULD mass produce it for cheap, look at their track record.  What does government do when food becomes abundant?  They pay farmers to keep making the crops (spending the money on the raw materials & labor) but to burn a lot of it so the prices remain artificially high & so the poor don’t manage to climb out of their slum.  What do they do when education becomes widely available & competition thrives?  They make sure to ruin education so that nobody is intelligent enough to compete with them.  Further dividing the playing field.

So, does that mean this technology shouldn’t be made?  No.  What it DOES mean is that WE, as in EVERY HUMAN ON EARTH WHO CARES ABOUT OUR SPECIES, MUST act very very very soon.  Nuclear warfare isn’t the threat it once was, and it isn’t even the threat they’d currently like you to believe.  As evil as some leaders might seem, they know that a world inhabited by a persistent radioactive half-life leftover from nuclear war is also a world they won’t be able to live in either.  So it’s a suicide move for them too….until gene therapy can absolve them of any negative results from a global scale nuclear holocaust.

The majority of humanity is good, not evil.  It is this inherent goodness that keeps us from actually WANTING to hurt anyone, no matter how bad they might be.  It’s hard for normal people to hurt anyone.  Often times when good people do hurt others, they deeply regret it & never ever forget it.

I’m not a religious man, but that doesn’t mean I think the existence of a god is impossible.  In any case, right from wrong is something I do believe in.  Perhaps there is a judgement day.  But, perhaps religions have it all wrong.  Perhaps it’s not a judgement of god in the notion that god saves the good & the innocent from the evil & tyrannical.  Perhaps it’s an inner judgement of ourselves where we have to ask ourselves how much the future of our humanity means to each other.  Many of us say we love each other.  We say we love people we’ve never even met, just because they are our fellow man.  Yet we let petty things divide us.  Maybe it’s time we look not at each other in judgement.  But at ourselves.  What do YOU stand for?  Have YOU lived up to it?  I ask myself & the answer is NO.  In all our hearts, we stand for freedom.  We see this in each other & find our kinship there.

For some, they believe god put it there.  For others, it’s just our nature.  And for others, they don’t care why it’s there, they just feel it.  To those who believe in god, I ask you:  do you not think he would be proud of you for obtaining your freedom from tyranny?  Many religious stories are about EXACTLY that, yet you let preachers, pastors, priests, etc tell you to lay down & take it.  God will end up saving you, so don’t bother.  If you believe god is some sort of father figure, then I ask, what is a father’s duty but to teach his children how to be responsible for themselves?  Is that not your salvation?

For those who do not believe in god, I have no more reasoning than for the sake of your children & for the sake of humanity itself as reason for taking life in your own hands & demanding we be free & that no government, no politician, no human on all of Earth has power to force you into bondage.  Regardless of the type of bondage it may be, there is no justification for it.

I’m willing to die for this.  Why aren’t you?
